This year, we will be making a complete Thanksgiving meal for the first time. While it will never live up to the one my mom and family collectively prepare, I am hoping it will be enough to remind those around the table how many things there are in our lives to be thankful for – is that not the main idea behind the holiday, after all? And speaking of which, here are just a few (of the many) things I am thankful for this year –
- The best sister anyone could ask for. The story goes, when I came home from the hospital, and had my first bath, she brought me every one of her toys. Not much has changed over the years. She always does whatever she can to support me, and loves me unconditionally, whenever, wherever. I’m a lucky girl, and anyone who is friends with her, is lucky too. She is undeniably the best.
- A family I can always rely on for support, love, and the funniest dinner-table jokes. My Grandma was the rock of our family and it is the most wonderful thing to see us grown-up and still connected as ever. If my Grandma and Grandpa could see us all today, they would be incredibly proud.
- A wonderful husband, who has fearlessly adapted to a practically meat-free home, joined in on the Soul Cycle fun, and makes me laugh with the most perfectly timed jokes and quips.
- More than anything, I’m thankful for a roof over my head, clothes in my closet, a refrigerator with food, a job, and good health.
What are you thankful for?
